As I type this, it’s snowing. It was sunny and nearly 70 yesterday, this is how northeast Ohio works. If you can’t hack it, move to Arizona.
Don’t tell anyone else, but I wouldn’t mind if it rained all day (the snow can take a hike, however). I’d like a sleepy day. This is almost certainly not going to happen though – I have a lot of work to do and my dogs are here. At some point, it is guaranteed that they will be real a-holes, probably when my husband and I both need to be on the phone for work.
Let’s see, what else is going on? I saw my parents yesterday and my mom gave me peanut butter cookies. She makes the best peanut butter cookies in the world, no joke they are completely perfect. My husband said I should get her recipe and I certainly could, but they would not be as nice as hers. I guess because she has been making them for 60 years she’s had time to perfect her craft.
I gave my parents my Hulu and Netflix passwords and set up their Prime Video access, so now they can watch as much garbage television as everyone else. I also installed Zoom on my dad’s phone so he can attend his church board of trustees’ meeting. I will almost certainly be sorry about all of this at some point.
The drive to my parents’ house is about 45 minutes and I enjoyed the alone time very much. Traffic is certainly lighter but the roads weren’t as deserted as you might think. The eerie bit is driving past office complexes and shopping centers and seeing the parking lots empty unless of course there is a grocery store in the shopping center. Everyone is at the god damn grocery store and I am starting to wonder if people are just using it as an excuse to get out, not that I would blame them.
I brought my parents some cloth masks yesterday and before I left I told them to please wash the masks before wearing them. Twenty minutes later they sent me a picture of themselves wearing the masks. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO DO, KILL ME. I know they can’t hear anything but sometimes I think they do hear me and then just don’t follow my instructions. Every time I go over there it’s like “here is a list of dangerous things we did without telling you” and it is sending me over the edge.
We ordered carryout last night and ate sitting at our kitchen island while our dogs slept off whatever they did at daycare all day. Usually, when I bring them home the puppy aggresses her brother in an overtired-asshole fashion while I prepare their gross dinners, but yesterday they both just stood still and blinked at me while I filled their bowls. They ate and went to sleep and barely moved until it was time to actually go to bed. Thank you goddess for dog daycare being an essential business! I will be over them by approximately 3 pm today but I am grateful for whatever I can get.
