First: I finished my quilt top!
Second: We successfully ordered a pizza last night!
Third: It snowed yesterday. It was 41 degrees so WTH? It didn’t stick around, of course, but still. Enough already weather, read the room.
I wrapped up my quilt top early this morning and now I will press pause on that project while I wait for my batting and backing to arrive. Some of the supplies I ordered from Joann 10 days ago still have not shipped. I ordered another batch of stuff from a small online vendor five days ago; still no word. I understand, of course. This time instead of Half-Pint I am Caroline Ingalls, waiting for Pa to return from Mankato with my calico.
Actually I think I am getting used to the now-far-away-seeming notion of next-day delivery. Remember Amazon Prime? I barely do. Losing touch with the want it now, get it now nature of the recent past happened a lot more quickly than I would have thought. Humans: adaptable!
SPEAKING OF QUILTS AND CALICO. I texted my mother a picture of my completed quilt top and she came right back with this amazing information: she has quilt squares that my great-grandmother made that still need to be made into a quilt. WHAT?!?! So now we are going to collaborate on finding fabric to make new squares to have enough for a quilt. My mom: never not full of surprises.
What else did I do today? Made chicken broth (thank you Instant Pot for broth in about an hour), sewed and mailed some masks, and cleaned up the kitchen (I don’t know about you but the theme of quarantine has been ABWD or Always Be Washing Dishes). Things I didn’t get to today: endless, but no matter, we have nothing but time still.
My husband asked me yesterday what I wanted to do this weekend and oh, how we laughed. I am not really in a big hurry to do…much of anything when businesses begin re-opening. We already go to dog daycare and they have set up really good guidelines to keep people safe, so I am comfortable doing that.
I can live without getting my nails done or my hair cut (though, it should be noted, I am dying to do both things). Going to a restaurant or bar: please just forget it about, brain!
