*series of increasingly crazy emoji faces, ending with the one that has one bug-eye and the tongue hanging out*
As I’m writing this I am on day 12 of self-imposed quarantine, minus a few grocery and dog-related outings. It is…getting to me? Haha I can’t imagine what people with children feel like. Oh wait, yes I can in a way: I have elderly parents who won’t stay put. My dad is out here “running up to the store for bananas and yeast” and I am at a loss. I WILL MAIL YOU SOME YEAST OLD MAN.
Let us all take a moment to remember that at this time last year my father had been at home recovering from heart bypass surgery for less than a month. I guess one thing to be grateful for (and there are many, despite my tone) is that he had a heart attack last year and not, like, now.
See what I meant in one of the other newsletters about the bar being low? This is where we’re at. Glad you had your heart attack last year, dad! Yikes.
Yesterday was “Sunday” if in fact we can possibly be keeping track of days of the week anymore. I made a key lime pie. I also made spinach and tomato lasagna. I’ve made this particular recipe a number of times before (it’s from Cook’s Country and they are dicks and still have a paywall, I’m sorry!) but for some reason last night’s version was the best I’ve ever made. Lasagna is actually a great thing to make during a quarantine situation because it is time-consuming. You need to bake for a total of 50 minutes and then rest for 30? You go right ahead! In fact, take 40 minutes.
We also managed a walk yesterday. It was cold but sunny the entire time, which was glorious. A lot of people were out working in their yards and it made me wonder if everyone’s gardens will just look impeccable this year? I can hardly wait to get out there and start weeding and I mostly hate weeding!
Also, in case you haven’t guessed this by now, it is not my intention to make this newsletter too “serious” or “tied to reality” or anything like that. Not that I want to make light of this incredibly serious and legitimately scary situation but comic relief, if we don’t laugh we’ll cry, etc. We are all just trying to get to the other side of something that has no determined endpoint, lol so fun I love a mystery!
