Are you all having that feeling where you wake up in the morning and for a split second you forget what's going on, and then you remember and it sucks? Good times.
I don't get sick often, but in later years I seem to have developed allergies. I never had seasonal or pet allergies growing up so I blame my husband for this. I LEARNED IT BY WATCHING YOU.
Most of the time I am not too bothered by the effects of these allergies but right now, the mild sinus congestion and sore throat seem...particularly ill-timed. But I know I am not the only person in the world who is furtively googling "sore throat covid-19" or sticking a digital thermometer in my mouth every day (97.8 to 98.5 seems to be my wheelhouse). Solidarity in paranoia!
In the evenings I also get a bit of chest tightness but I think this is just your garden-variety terror of the unknown. It wasn't as bad last night so I guess I am...getting used to this? Hahaha everything is fine. This is fine! (Go ahead and mentally insert that cartoon of the dog sitting in a burning room that I am too lazy to source and include.)
The big excitement yesterday was that someone drove their car into a tree across the street from us. I heard a loud THUD outside and assumed it was UPS dropping off the double case of dog food I ordered earlier in the week, but later when I peeked out the window I observed a fire engine, three police cars, an assortment of onlookers, and of course a car with its front end accordion-ed into a 100-year-old birch tree. (The tree is completely unscathed.) I don’t know why the car ended up like that but it doesn’t seem as though anyone was hurt. The neighbors were outside discussing this (proper social distancing was observed) for hours. I can’t wait to run into them on a walk and talk about it from at least six feet away!
Other than gawk out our windows, we didn't do too much yesterday. Many YouTube car videos and episodes of The Office were watched. I made fire chicken for dinner and did some laundry. At a couple of points, I took the dogs outside to run around and my husband was able to get in some quality time on the elliptical machine.
Speaking of workouts, I accidentally ran my Fitbit through the wash, and in case you were wondering a 25-minute cycle on the colors setting is good for about 800 steps. I was glad to see it survived. It seems like a good sign, right?
