BREAKING: I did not make the chickpea stew last night, we had leftover sausage sandwiches instead because my husband has fallen in love with them. The chickpea stew relies heavily on canned beans and frozen greens so it can wait. You can be certain I won’t be cooking tonight because IT’S FRIDAY, BIIIIIITCH!!!!!
TGIF and all, but I have a lot of work to do today. Like a lot. Also, I slept on the couch with a dyspeptic puppy most of the night and I feel approximately 100 years older than I did yesterday.
This morning I did a very “me” thing, which was to casually observe that my living room lampshades, in the morning light, are looking pretty janky these days, and immediately order new lampshades. Is it me or is it kind of hard to order lampshades? There is no real standard sizing and it’s hard to tell if the one you’re ordering is going to look stupid or not. Fingers crossed I guess!
We could probably stand to upgrade our living room lamps – the bases are early 1970s ceramic, original color adobe, current color dark green and grey fleck, thanks to a can of textured-finish spray paint some years ago. These were the lamps we had in my living room growing up and my mom always called them the “bean pot lamps,” so that is what I call them. They aren’t bean pots, if that is even a thing. (I guess it’s a thing? They are a similar shape.) God help us all if I have to choose new lamps.
My new office chair arrived yesterday, in a box that is disturbingly small. I knew I’d have to put it together but going by the size of the box I will just be building it from scratch. The dogs are home today and I have too many meetings and too much work to do so I doubt I will get to assemble it. Maybe that’s a good thing on so little sleep?
We are really kitting out our respective home offices now that my company’s 100% WFH policy is indefinite and my husband’s is extended through at least the end of the year. I ordered chair mats, various adapter cables and some monitor stands earlier this week. I noted this on Twitter yesterday, but it became just too much of a self-own to continue raising my external monitor on my Anxiety & Phobia Workbook, which, ask me if I’ve ever even cracked that book. It is time to put it away (or uh, read it I guess? haha!) or at least not use it as ersatz furniture anymore.
