I am back on my bullshit w/r/t Call the Midwife which is proving to be WILD this season:
In this particular edition of No-Context Call the Midwife, I expect you are grateful to not have the context.
Memorial Day weekend – which already seems like a long time ago – was really good. I had four days off, during which we ate and drank like kings: ribs and chicken wings on the smoker, homemade margaritas, homemade popsicles, bagel sandwiches, enchiladas, chips and dips. I made sour cream and onion chip dip from scratch and absolutely blew my husband’s mind. The weather was mostly ideal.
To put a capstone on the experience, the littlest dog barfed a half dozen times before bedtime on Monday night. Ending a very nearly perfect four days off by cleaning up dog barf is Classic Us™, though, so good job littlest dog for keeping it real. (She’s fine, my husband diagnosed her with “operator error” while pointing to himself, meaning he gave her too many treats.)
Last week was an odd week, as four-day weeks often are. I feel about half-aware of everything. It’s JUNE, which is totally insane. There is a maybe-job out there in the ether, one that I am not sure I want but not sure I DON’T want. (I know: tale as old as time.) A complicating factor is that the interview process for this company is known to be challenging, and the deeper I go into the process the more impressed with myself I become. Do I “want” the job? Meh. Do I want to be very good at the process of getting it? YES. Healthy!
We tried to start watching the fourth season of Stranger Things this week but it is too gory and awful, so I have opted out. I am pretty sad about this TBH! Some people are made to watch horror but I am not one of them. I will watch Obi-Wan Kenobi instead. (For years, as a little kid, I was sure the character’s name was Obi-1 Kenobi, which only made sense in a world that also included C3PO and R2D2.)
The weekend just concluded was also very good. My husband spent four hours on Sunday washing and detailing his car. I toiled in my sewing room for a while, and then I toiled in the kitchen so we could eat this with some beer brats for dinner. SUMMER OF SALADS and summer of air frying IS ON.
