Hey Lady's Pandemic Complaints
Hello. Anything cool happen since we talked last?
I completed my day as an election worker. I really liked it and will probably do it again, provided the United States ever holds another free election. (Haha! I am going to try and keep the gallows humor to a minimum. I am!)
My polling place was small, just five voting booths. There are probably more in non-pandemic times. Twelve of us worked on Election Day and ten of us were new, but everything went more or less smoothly. Our precinct was in a library that was closed to the public for the day, so there was a lot of room to walk around maskless inside and out. Around 6 pm, someone sent us a bunch of pizzas. The polls closed at 7:30 and we all got to go home an hour later. I’m really proud of it, not just of having done it, but that it all worked under such strange circumstances.
Speaking of which, I did not enjoy wearing a mask for 15 hours straight. I switched to a paper one after becoming acutely aware that one of my homemade masks is brutal on my ears when worn for longer than it takes to go and pick up my dogs. Masks weren’t required for voting, by the way, and we had curbside voting for people who didn’t want to come in, but no one opted for that.
Anyway, the best news of all is that my little dog’s stupid wart went away and she can go back to daycare. She actually went back before it was all the way gone, but the other, smaller one had already gone away and the giant gross ugly one was a fraction of its original (terrifying, disgusting) size. I am afraid to say that I pulled a bit of a Karen with the daycare and asked them to please please please just let the dog stay overnight before Election Day, and they welcomed her back quite willingly. She is also doing well with her new brain pills.
I turned down some freelance work today. I hated to do it, but there are no more available hours in my day or space in my brain. My hustle is maxed. I bought two additional pre-lit Christmas trees and I need to make tree skirts and finish two quilts and bake Christmas cake. Aside from all that, I spend too much time sitting at a desk already and finally ordered myself a standing desk thingy and a balance board to stand on. I can’t wait until the first time I fall over in a meeting.
